Aromatherapy Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.

The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing. A form of alternative medicine, aromatherapy is gaining momentum. It is used for a variety of applications, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function.

There are a wide number of essential oils available, each with its own healing properties.
Lymphatic drainage massage is a profound technique to help increase lymph flow. With an increase of lymph flow immune function is increased. Harmful substances are removed from the tissues and neutralized in the nodes. It has also been shown that an increase in lymph flow stimulates an increased production of lymphocytes - enhancing immune function.

Lymphatic drainage massage is also useful when working with clients who have sports injuries. After the initial inflammatory stage has passed, lymphatic work can be applied after Sports or Neuromuscular massage has been completed. Continued applications of lymphatic drainage while the client is healing can help to enhance the tissue regeneration process by keep the tissue as healthy as possible.

Relaxing Massage Relaxation massage is essentially the same as a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes. The primary purpose will be to help you relax, and the massage therapist will probably move at a slower pace and use light pressure.

During a relaxation massage there is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or knots in the muscle tissue and the therapist won't push your pain limits in order to get the muscle to release. Sometimes people even fall asleep during a relaxation massage.

There are still substantial health benefits to a relaxation massage, including calming the nervous system, promoting a sense of well-being, improving blood circulation and stimulating the body's lymphatic system, which carries away waste products.
Pre-event sports massages helps to warm up the muscles by stretching them and making them more flexible; improves circulation to the muscles; decreases muscle tension and produces a feeling of psychological readiness.

Post-event massages helps to loosen tired, stiff muscles and promotes blood flow to the muscles. One to two hours should be allowed to pass after the event, before the massage session, to allow the dilated blood vessels to return to normal. Psychologically, it promotes a sense of well-being and relaxation, which is just what is needed after a hard work-out.

Maintenance sports massages are usually done once a week (especially in the case of professional athletes), many of whom have their own massage therapists. These massages help to keep the athletes flexible and provide them with some degree of pain relief that accompanies high-level training.
